The Bachelor!
ABC is bringing back the popular reality show, The Bachelor, for a ninth season. Following last season’s romantic Parisian setting, the ninth season will be filmed in Rome, Italy. Rumor had it that the new season would film in balmy Hawaii, but at that time the show’s producers still hadn’t announced who the new bachelor would be. The announcement of the new Bachelor and the show’s European locale has been met with great excitement, especially since the new Bachelor is an actual member of the Italian royalty. Italy was a considerably easy choice for the show’s producers as Bachelor Price Lorenzo Borghese is an Italian prince and heir to the substantial Borghese cosmetics empire located both in Manhattan, NY and in Tuscany, Italy.
The Bachelor is a reality television dating game show and has operated by the same format since its debut in 2002. The Bachelor is always a highly sought after, often wealthy man who sets out on the show to seek his future wife. Twenty-five women compete on the show to be the final woman standing, and hope to win the show with a diamond ring on her finger. Group and individual dates are won through a series of challenges. The reality show’s catch phrase is “Will you accept this rose?” Only one couple, Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter, who met on The Bachelor’s sister show, The Bachelorette, have been married.
ABC’s newest Bachelor, Prince Lorenzo Borghese, 32, will certainly make for an eventful ninth season. The Prince is an American citizen who has lived in Manhattan since 1997. He was born in Milan, and lived in Rome and Paris before coming to the States to handle the family cosmetics business. He is a managing partner with his father, Prince Francesco and is looking to find the woman he is to marry and raise a family with. How many women dream of one day meeting a handsome, wealthy prince who splits his time between Europe and Manhattan? And a cosmetics heir to boot? ABC is giving these women their once-in-a- lifetime chance. The true intentions of the female contestants will be called into question more than ever before, and the season promises to be incredibly dramatic.
The show will air this fall in its regular Monday at 9 p.m. EST timeslot.
